Joanne Wilson is a rebel, an anti-VC VC.
Joanne has a background in retail and non-profit mentorship. She made her first foray into funding with her first angel investment in 2007 because, as she discovered, female founders typically receive smaller checks when fundraising than their male counterparts. She is a big believer in women lifting up other women, and has a portfolio of over 90 companies in industries such as health, ride sharing, & media. Through her diverse portfolio and her role in founding The Women’s Entrepreneurs Festival, which celebrates and validates female founders’ innovations, she is creating safe spaces of conversation and connection amongst underrepresented groups in VC.
